Descripción

Volume 11 of the Advances in Bioenergy book series presents a comprehensive exploration of cutting-edge approaches to organic waste valorization, addressing both the tremendous opportunities and critical challenges facing the field. This volume brings together leading experts to examine diverse pathways for converting organic waste streams into valuable bioenergy and bioproducts, ranging from traditional methods like composting and biogas production to emerging technologies such as biohydrogen generation and bio-graphene synthesis. The chapters tackle crucial technical barriers including the enhancement of oily food waste conversion, advanced membrane separation technologies for organic acid recovery, and thermochemical conversion processes for high-value material production. Recognizing that sustainable waste valorization must address environmental concerns alongside economic viability, the volume dedicates substantial attention to pressing issues such as PFAS contamination in organic waste streams and greenhouse gas emissions from agricultural valorization systems. By bridging fundamental research with practical implementation challenges, this volume serves as an essential resource for researchers, engineers, policymakers, and industry professionals seeking to advance the circular bioeconomy through innovative organic waste management and conversion technologies.

Puntos claves

  • Addresses emerging contaminants and environmental impacts - Provides critical analysis of PFAS contamination challenges and greenhouse gas emissions in organic waste valorization, filling crucial gaps in existing literature on environmental sustainability
  • Spans the full spectrum of conversion technologies - Covers biological, thermochemical, and physical-chemical processes, offering readers a complete toolkit for matching waste streams with optimal valorization pathways
  • Balances cutting-edge innovation with practical implementation - Examines both established commercial technologies and frontier applications while candidly addressing real-world challenges in scalability, economics, and deployment
