Students wishing to progress from Specialty Training (ST)1 through to ST3 need to pass their MRCS exams. Once these have been completed and their place in a surgical post secured they then go on to working on the necessary skills to pass the FRCS exam. This exam marks the completion of 6 years of higher surgical training.
