Descripción

Published as an Open Access book freely available for download on Science Direct, Marine Operations for Offshore Wind Turbines, Volume 1: Fundamentals and Application is a practical reference that links fundamentals to methods to application in this unique, important, and highly interdisciplinary area, helping readers to ensure operational safety, reduced installation costs, and improved wind farm efficiency and reliability. The first part of the book introduces the fundamentals of offshore wind energy systems and marine operations, along with analysis methods and numerical modelling and simulation tools. The second section focuses on in-depth case studies based on the authors’ own research and incorporating real-world practical experience in key areas, guiding the reader through lifting operations for turbine components, environmental loads, motion control, structural modelling, and safety assessment for installations, modelling, analysis and control of full assembly installation, and design and optimization for floating installations. Finally, the critical phases of transportation and final mooring hook-up are introduced, and a concluding chapter provides an overview of recent trends and emerging topics, such as robotic technologies, artificial intelligence, and advanced decommissioning solutions, offering routes for future research and development. A volume in the Elsevier Wind Energy Engineering Series, this is an essential resource for all those looking learn the fundamentals, to improve their understanding, and to gain insights into installation concepts, analysis methods, modelling approaches, key tools, and problems and challenges, including researchers, students, engineers, R&D, policy makers and industry professionals.
